Common Dental Emergency Situations

Tooth Knocked Out: Give us a call right away. Make sure you save the tooth and rinse off its roots without removing or scrubbing the tissue. You can try to re-insert the tooth, but if it is painful or you get a little queazy at the thought, simply put the tooth in a glass of milk and bring it to our emergency dentist as quickly as you can.

Toothache: Start by rinsing your mouth (including the pained area) with warm water. Then gently check with dental floss for debris or food stuck between your teeth. Do not try applying aspirin or other painkillers directly to your gums because this can damage and burn your gum tissue.

Broken Tooth: One of the more alarming dental emergencies. Call us as soon as you can. Use warm water to rinse out your mouth. Use a cold compress to keep the swelling down.

Cracked or Chipped Tooth: This is a very common issue and can be caused by decay, accidents, or chewing on really hard types of food. Give us a call so that we can determine the extent of your problem we'll get you in to see a dentist as soon as possible.

Please remember that any kind of pain is a sign that something is wrong. Just because the pain may stop does not mean that the problem is gone. Make sure to see your emergency dentist as soon as possible.
